Since receiving my Canon 1200D in 2016, I have covered a wide range of photographic genres, including portrait, pet, and architecture photography. In the beginning I only wanted a camera because I thought it was cool, not because I was particularly interested in photography; in the same year that I got my DSLR, I took part in a photography course which taught me the basics. One day, the instructor taught me about shutter speed and how it can be manipulated to achieve unique photos. He placed my camera on a tripod, then showed me how to change the shutter speed to 8 seconds before taking a photo of the passing tram. I was a bit skeptical about how the photo would turn out, but when I saw the image, I thought, "Wow, that is magical!"
That moment sparked my passion for photography. I wanted to take photos that weren’t merely "pretty", but mesmerizing. This is easier said than done, so I am continuously reflecting on my work, looking for new inspiration, and swapping ideas with other hobby photographers.
